If you’ve never been to Koh Samui, you’re in for a real treat! There are adventures and interesting experience galore, which will keep you busy for days, weeks, or as long as you’ve booked your trip for. There are some of the best beaches in the world, world-class diving, national parks to explore, cooking classes to take, and more! It is daunting to plan your trip, so we have compiled a list of the best activities you have to experience while in Koh Samui to help you out.
Visit A National Park (Or Two)
This jungle filled country has a plethora of national parks to explore. The Mu Ko Ang Thong is our personal favorite, if you want to explore some islands. This national park of Thailand covers many islands. There are four different forests which include the dry evergreen forest, beach forest, limestone forest and the mangrove forests. Photographers will love the variety of flora and fauna they have to choose from, making it an ideal place for photo shoots. They’ll keep you exploring for hours or even days, depending on how much time you have.
Explore a Few Wats and Temples
What better way to round out your trip to this tropical paradise than taking in some of the local culture. There is no better place to do so than Wat Plai Laem. One of our favorite Buddhist temple complexes, it features an 18 armed image of Guanyin. Even if you are not religious, you can still appreciate the splendor of this newer temple. If you donate, you can feed the multitude of fish in the lake which surrounds the temple. But no, you are not allowed to take one of the beautiful fish home as a souvenir!
Thai Cooking Class
If you are a foodie, or if you have a pulse, you’re going to love the food in Thailand. The simple, yet savory blends will have you wishing you could have Thai food for the rest of your life. While a permanent move to Thailand may not be possible, you can still take a Thai cooking class so you can reminisce about your Koh Samui vacation anytime. The lemon grass, ginger, coconut milk and exotic spices will become your new favorite cooking ingredients after you’ve learned the secrets of the Thai kitchen.
Many of the best hotels in Koh Samui will organize any tours or classes for you. They’ll usually have recommendations for the providers who will give you an authentic experience.
Splash Around in the Water
If you’re a water baby, you’re going to be in heaven while in Koh Samui. With some of the best diving locations in the world, you could spend days under water and not see a fraction of all the marine world has to offer. The beautiful world under the sea is teeming with fish, plants, and other secrets for you to explore. If you are not keen on being completely submerged, snorkeling will still allow you to play with the marine life.
